Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has not revealed the findings and conclusions of the investigation it conducted into complaints regarding the granting of flats in the previous administration's 'Gedhoruveriya' housing scheme.dd

Allegations arose regarding the allocation of the 4000 Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) built flats during the final days of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration. There were claims that the flats had been granted to those who were not deserving as a result of poor investigation of current living arrangements, as well as acceptance of false information that applicants had included in their forms.

After the granting of flats had been halted for months as the ACC had been conducting investigations into the complaints, the commission finally notified the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Planning on Thursday evening that they could proceed with the issuance of flats.

The ACC announced that in issuance of the flats, the Ministry must bear some points in mind. They are:

- no changes should come to the consensus on forms that were granted points in accordance with fundamental policies and requirements

- review forms that are found to have issues

- establish a course of action to be taken in cases where the response to a particular issue is not explicitly stipulated in the guidelines

- to act without favour or discrimination when reviewing forms

The commission has not revealed to date any further information regarding either their findings, instructions or advice to the Ministry on this matter.

No word has been issued on the conclusions they reached in the case of complaints submitted by members of the public, either.

Following Thursday's correspondence to the Ministry being reported in media, some prospective flat recipients have also enquired whether the ACC's investigation may result in changes to the list of flat recipients. However, this, too, has not received a response.

When asked by Mihaaru News why the details were not being publicized when it is in the interests of many individuals, an official of ACC responded that it is not possible to provide any further details beyond what was released on Thursday.

He added, however, that arrangements are being made to hold a press conference regarding the investigation.

While it has been said that the Ministry has been instructed to refer to five factors in deciding to issue flats, it is so far unconfirmed what these factors are.

The Housing Ministry announced on Thursday night that it has commenced deliberations regarding the ACC's decision, saying they will reveal their decision this week.
