Hussain Naais, a Special Educational Needs (SEN) student at Jamaluddin School, has been offered valuable opportunities by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem shared with the ministry's media group that Naais's request for further skills development in Quranic writing and Islamic calligraphy will be supported.
In addition, Naais will be given the opportunity to teach these skills to other children at the Quran Center. His Islamic calligraphy will also be showcased at the Islamic Center in Addu City and the Quran Center in Fuvahmulah City next year.
"This student will be provided with all the modern facilities necessary for Islamic calligraphy. An expert in the field will be assigned to teach him advanced skills. This opportunity will also be available to other children interested in pursuing Islamic studies," Shaheem said.
Naais, born in Shaviyani atoll Kanditheemu, was born unable to speak or hear. His family moved him to Male' in Grade 4 to provide him with additional support in his studies. Since then, the 21-year-old has been studying at Jamaluddin School.
A post by the school, showcasing Naais’s calligraphy, garnered significant attention.
"Naais has left his mark indelibly on not only the walls of Jamaluddin School, but also in our hearts," the school said.
"He has constantly broken boundaries with his artistic talent and proven beyond a doubt that being differently abled does not have to limit one’s potential or ability to conquer one’s dreams," they added.
