MP of Baa atoll Eydhafushi constituency Ahmed Saleem has been appointed as the chairperson of the parliament's 241 Committee today, while MP of Maamigili constituency Qasim Ibrahim was appointed to chair the Public Accounts Committee of the parliament.
MP Saleem was appointed as the chair of the 241 committee - which overlooks the operations of the security services under Article 241 of the Constitution of Maldives - by the unanimous votes of all attending members. The vice chairperson of the committee will be MP of Inguraidhoo constituency and ruling party People's National Congress (PNC)'s parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Falah.
