The Criminal Court of the Maldives has ordered a five-day remand for the second suspect who was arrested in connection with the brutal murder of Naeema Moosa, a resident of Manadhoo in Noonu Atoll.
Maldives Police Service has arrested two primary suspects, aged 20 and 23, in connection with the murder of Naeema. The 23-year-old suspect, who has already confessed to their involvement in the crime, was already held under a 14-day remand for their alleged involvement in a separate drug case.
The 20-year-old suspect was presented to the court on Saturday, May 27, for the remand hearing, where he was issued an additional five-day remand period.
The suspects arrested are also residents of Manadhoo and are known to be involved in criminal activities. Multiple witnesses have reported seeing the two on the night of Naeema's murder. Police have also inspected a beachside area following information provided by the suspects during investigation.
Additionally, the police forensic team had collected DNA and other forensic samples from the crime scene.
