Traffic regulations need reviewing: CP Hameed

Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed on Saturday stated that traffic regulations need to be changed in order to make enforcement more convenient.

Tweeting the statistics on road traffic violations from 2019, CP Hameed said that enforcing traffic regulation consumes the time of many officers.

He went on to say that a meeting with all stakeholders will be held to come up with a solution that would ease the burden for officers.

According to the statistics from the Traffic Police, over 36,000 parking violations were recorded and 2840 vehicles were towed from the capital city Male' alone in 2019.

Meanwhile, 7,500 cases of driving without a licence and 2,800 licences were confiscated for various reasons.
