Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) revealed that its Chief Major General Abdulla Shamaal tested positive for COVID-19.
As per the spokesperson for MNDF Major Ibrahim Azim, the Chief was tested for COVID-19 on Saturday after exhibiting symptoms.
He revealed that Shamaal was currently isolating at his home and added that his contacts are being quarantined as well.
Asim noted that the Chief had not attended any mass gatherings nor has a recent travel history out of the country.
At present, Maldives records a total of 14,065 virus cases of which 701 are active cases, in addition to 13,308 recoveries and 49 deaths.
