MAHRP concludes 2018 activities with human resources session

Maldives Association of Human Resource Professionals (MAHRP) officially concluded its series of activities for 2018 with the Great HR Best Practice Share session on December 15.

The session was carried out in the auditorium of the Maldives National University (MNU) with an audience of 70 HR professionals covering eight sections and 24 different organizations. The focus areas of the event were Employee Engagement through Training and Development, Rewards and Recognition, and Employee Wellness.

The Director of Technical Services at the Auditor General’s Office Adam Naseer shared his insights on Employee Engagement through Training and Development. Adam stressed the necessity of instilling a growth mindset in employees and creating development programmes to fit the needs of individual workers.

The Resort Manager at Dhigali Maldives Hassan Saeed delivered the keynote speech regarding Rewards and Recognition. Saeed shared practices employed by the luxury resort to enhance organisational efficiency and productivity. The resort manager also emphasized the importance of praising employees and practising humility at all levels of employment.

The topic of Employee Wellness was tackled by a panel discussion moderated by the CEO of Nishy Pvt Ltd Ahmed Irash. The panel featured the Head of HR Business Partner at the Bank of Maldives (BML) Ahmed Ibrahim, Executive Assistant Manager at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives Hussain Shahid and Cluster HR Director at S Hotels Resorts Aminath Shaly.

The panelists demonstrated the role played by employee wellbeing in ensuring high productivity by providing practical examples from their respective organizations.

MAHRP president Hussain Afeef gave a statement regarding the objectives of the association, stating that “Our aim is to continue to add value to the HR network”.

Afeef, who also serves as the Regional Director of Training, Development and Quality Assurance at LUX* Resorts revealed that MAHRP had a wide range of activities planned across Maldives for 2019.

In order to fulfil its goal of enriching the Maldivian HR field, MAHRP’s activities for 2019 will include HR awareness sessions, organisational level quizzes, convention and debate sessions, as well as inspirational talks with world-class speakers.

Afeef stated that the Association's main focus was the upcoming National HR Convention and EXPO, which will be held at Dharubaaruge in the capital city of Male' on February 24-25.

MAHRP is the first professional association dedicated to the development of human resources to be registered in Maldives. MAHRP aims to provide current and comprehensive resources, promote HR’s essential values and set professional standards.

The exclusive training event with globally renowned customer experience consultant Ron Kaufman is one of the most significant events facilitated by MAHRP in Maldives.

The Association recently signed a professional support pact with Sri Lanka's Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) to achieve their objectives for the Maldivian HR industry.
