Former Managing Director of HDC Mahjoob Shujau has been appointed as the Managing Director of MACL, which operate Velana International Airport.
Privatization and Corporatization Board states that Mahjoob has been appointed as a member of the Board and Managing Director of MACL.
Mahjoob was the first person to be appointed as the Managing Director of HDC. He also worked as a special envoy at the President's Office to coordinate the development of Velana International Airport.
Ibrahim Thoha, who previously held the post of acting MD, has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director of MACL.
Thoha was the Deputy Chief Officer of MACL before being appointed as the Acting MD of MACL four months ago. Thoha was appointed acting MD following the dismissal of British-born Gordon Andrew Stewart who held the post of CEO and MD of MACL.
Andrew was dismissed from his post on November 10, 2019. A new MD has been appointed yesterday, while the position of CEO remains vacant.
The board of the company currently consists of seven members. They are Chairman Mohamed Umar Manik (MU Manik), Ibrahim Nooradheen, Aishath Aroosha, Ahmed Eman Moosa, Ibrahim Siyad Qasim and Dr. Ibrahim Mahfooz.
