A woman who applied for a job at the Dhaalu atoll Hulhudheli Magistrate Court has been disqualified due to her wearing niqab.
It has been reported that she applied for the post of Administrator at the Magistrate Court.
An emailed response from the Court says that upon forwarding applicant details to the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA), they had decided that she does not meet requirements for the job.
"As Article 129 of the Regulations on Employees in the Judicial Sector 2011 state that during office hours, staff must be dressed in a manner that reveals identity, we advise against continuing the recruitment process as it has been noted that the candidate wears niqab," the Magistrate Court quoted DJA as having said.
The Court said that as during the interview and practical session for the job, they had observed that the applicant wears the niqab, they have decided not to continue the recruitment process with her.
DJA has not commented on the matter as of yet.
