Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the operator of Velana International Airport, has welcomed two new Deputy Managing Directors to its leadership team.

The first appointee, Mohamed Lam'aan, who previously held the position of Managing Director at Fenaka during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, assumed his role on February 1.

The second appointee, Mujuthaba Latheef, who had prior experience at MACL, was officially appointed to the position on Monday.

Mujthaba, who previously served as the General Manager, Commercial, of MACL, faced a change in his role in 2020 when he asserted that MACL could manage the new seaplane terminal without outsourcing it to TMA, resulting in his removal from the post.

Despite these challenges during Yameen's tenure, Mujthaba has been re-employed under the new government.

Reports from MACL leaders suggest that Mujthaba has ambitious plans to enhance the company's business operations, including overseeing the management of the new seaplane terminal. His reinstatement is seen as a strategic move to implement and execute these plans for the expansion and success of MACL.
