Reported by The Times of India, Sohail departed for the Maldives yesterday with his two children. Paparazzi also shared videos of him at the Mumbai airport prior to his departure on social media.
The specific resort where Sohail and his family are holidaying has not been disclosed yet.
Sohail is reportedly the first Indian celebrity to visit the Maldives for vacation after the recent diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
This isn't Sohail's first visit to the Maldives for vacation. In 2017, he visited the Maldives with his ex-wife, Seema Sajdeh.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and India soured recently after three deputy ministers of the Youth Ministry - Malsha Shareef, Mariam Shiuna, and Abdullah Mahjoom Majid – criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's social media post promoting tourism in Lakshadweep.
Following the controversy, several Indian celebrities have called for a boycott of the Maldives.
As a result, the number of Indian tourists visiting the Maldives has significantly decreased. India, which was the top tourism market for the Maldives last year, has now dropped to the sixth position. Only 31,649 tourists arrived from India until March 20.
