Speedboat operator claims MVR 1.4 million recovered from Fazul's residence

A private company, Relax Ferry Service, has claimed ownership of MVR 1.4 million discovered by police at the residence of former Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed.

The money, found in a bag during an investigation into alleged fraud linked to the Binveriyaa housing scheme, was said by the company to be payment for building a vessel. Relax Ferry Service, which operates speedboats in the Male' area, revealed in a Facebook post that the funds were handed to Fazul's company late last month following consultations and a deal signed in 2022.
