Kyrgyzstan clinches victory over Maldives in a relentless final

Kyrgyzstan has clinched victory over the Maldivian team who displayed a relentless performance in the finals of the Asian Central Zone Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup.

Kyrgyzstan has clinched victory over the Maldivian team who displayed a relentless performance in the finals of the Asian Central Zone Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup.

The match held at Social Center, Male' City last night was prolonged to five sets and concluded with the scores 25-17, 24-26, 25-18, 22-25 and 15-9.

Although Maldives lost the opening set to Kyrgyzstan at 25-17, the team had successfully clinched the second set at a score of 26-24. Despite their opponent maintaining a lengthy lead in the third game, Kyrgyzstan had improved their performance during the final minutes, once more claiming the set at 25-18.

Maldives then secured the fourth set after a long lead at a score of 25-22, compelling the two teams to play another set. Kyrgyzstan had led this set at a wide margin with the Maldivian team taking some time to recollect themselves. The set closed at 15-9 points with Kyrgyzstan in lead, earning them the championship title of the tournament.

Despite another valiant performance, Kyrgyzstan had also handed Maldives their first loss during the round robin stages of the tournament. The team advanced to the finals after triumphing over Tajikistan 3-1 in the semi, claiming a notable second in the rankings. Meanwhile, Tajikistan, on Wednesday evening had clinched victory over Afghanistan to secure the bronze medal of the tournament.

Kyrgyzstan had also emerged the victor of the CAVA Women’s U20 Championship hosted in Maldives earlier in July.
