Contrary to the common practice of Associations, the Swimming Association of Maldives has revealed their electoral code to the public, further divulging a page containing additional information before announcing their elections slated for May 1.
While many Associations of Maldives are facing their electoral days this year, some have held their elections while others have announced dates for the elections.
However, contrary to all other Associations, the Swimming Association of Maldives is practicing an unorthodox scene this electoral term. They announced the date for their elections slated for May 1 after publicly disclosing their electoral code alongside a page containing additional information on their election procedures.
This year, the first Association that announced their elections is the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) that possesses the heftiest budget for expenditures as well as the most resources. Moreover, while they never revealed their electoral code, they had also neglected to establish a committee to investigate cases submitted by the electoral candidates.
They had maintained that the candidacy posed with problems was rejected in conformity of a certain Act of the electoral code, however, no regulations of the code were publicly revealed. Both the volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) and FAM had attempted to hold their elections twice. Further to not revealing their electoral code, they had both neglected to inform the people that such a code is in effect during both these attempts.
This is the fifth election of the Swimming Association for which the candidacy nomination window is set to conclude on May 23.
The electoral code that consists of 9 Acts in total also discloses the location determined for this election as well. Seven seats of the Executive Committee will be appointed members during this election.
