A portion of National team goalkeeper Imran Mohamed’s retirement match proceedings has been donated to the Blind and Visually Impaired Society of Maldives (BVISM), on Monday.

In the handover ceremony held at the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), a sum raised by ticket sales amounting to MVR 22,475 was donated to the association.

Longstanding national athlete hailed in contention as the best goalkeeper in Maldives, Imran expressed his happiness in marking his retirement with a contribution to those in need of aid.

The match, held in honour of the former first-choice goalkeeper of the national team at Maldives National Football Stadium, pitted Imran’s against FAM's team consisting mostly of current national team athletes led by Real Madrid’s famed right back, Míchel Salgado.

Imran's team proved victorious over their star-studded counterparts by scoring four goals and conceding three.

Although Imran officially retired from international football at the age of 35, in 2016, he was bid adieu by the country during the special retirement match.

Renowned in South Asia as a formidable keeper, Imran has participated in a total of six SAFF Championships, including his stellar performances that crowned Maldives as the Champions in 2008 and earned 3rd place in the AFC Challenge cup in 2014.

The decorated goalkeeper started his illustrious career in 1999 and has made a total of 111 appearances for the national team.
