Siblings Fathimath Nabaaha and Aminath Nabeeha won a bronze medal victory in the Women's Doubles category at the Yonex Sunrise International Series 2018, held in Nepal.

The pair conceded defeat to the Indian team consisting of Aparna Balan and Sruthi K.P during the semi-finals. The teams scored 21-09 and 21-11 in the two sets they contested in.

This is the duo's fourth podium finish at an International Competition in the Women's doubles category over the past two years. Nabaaha and Nabeeha achieved silver winnings during the South Asian Youth Badminton Championship in 2017 and 2018.

Additionally, the team earned the title of runners-up at the Mauritius International held in June, this year.

Currently crowned National Women's Doubles Champions, the pair have been performing well in matches across various international competitions.

Maldives will contest in the upcoming championship in Bangladesh 2019. The competition should prove a valuable training opportunity for the national athletes prior to facing next year's Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG).
