Training for 'one sports counsellor for every island' begins

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment has started training sports counsellor to be active on each inhabited island of Maldives.

The ministry confirmed training activities for the sports counsellors have officially begun. The initiative is one of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's presidential pledges slated to be completed within the first 100 days of his administration.

A three-week course will be conducted by Maldives National Institute of Sports to train the sports for sports counsellors. The mandate of the counsellors are to help people in perform regular exercise and sports activities.

Individuals that are interested in participating and pursuing the course, may register from date until the December 4, as training is set to commence on December 16.

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive the 'Certificate One in Fitness Instructor' and may begin performing in their allotted capacities.
