Ahmadiyya wins Under-20 Champions in Inter-School Athletics 2023

Ahmadiyya International School emerged as the best school at the Inter-School Athletics Championship 2023, which concluded on Friday, May 19.

The school became the Under 20 Champions in both male and female categories at the championship which saw 47 schools from the Maldives competing.

While Ahmadiyya School achieved all the Under-20 category wins, Sharafuddin School won the Under-17 female category, and Majeedhiyya School landed the Under-17 male category win.

Iskandar School won the Under-15 male category, while Kalaafaanu School won the Under-15 female category.

A total of three schools won championship title in the Under-13 category. Milandhoo School won the Under-13 male category followed by Muhyiddin School in second place and Kanduhulhudhoo School in third place. In the female division, Afeefuddin School emerged as the champions, with Iskandar School securing the second position and Jalaaluddin School in third place.

A total of 1,495 student athletes participated in this year's nationwide athletics tournament. Among them, Aminath Layana Mohamed from Dhaandhoo School won the Best Athlete award (Female) in the Under-20 category by securing gold medals in the 100, 200, and 400-meter female sprint events. She also set new meet records in both the 100 and 400-meter categories.

Ibrahim Adam from the Maldives National University (MNU) won the Best Athlete Award (Male) in the Under-20 category, winning gold medals in 500, 800, and 1,500 meters sprint events.

Ahna Nizar from Jalaaluddin School won the Best Athlete award (Female) in the Under-17 category for securing gold medals in 100 and 200 meters sprint events and triple jumps. While she set new meet records in 100 and 200-meters events, Ahna had broken the previous triple jump national record in the category as well.

Zain Zaid Abdulla from Majeedhiyya School won the Best Athlete award (Male) in the Under-17 category for securing gold medals in 800 and 1,500 meters events, while he set a meet record in the latter event.

Aminath Zeeva Amir from Hithadhoo School won the Best Athlete award (Female) in the Under-15 category for securing gold medals in 200 and 400 meters sprint events, while Iskandar School’s Mohamed Ilan Imran won the Best Athlete award (Male) in the Under-15 category for securing gold wins in the 100 and 200 meters sprint. Ilan also set a new meet record in the 100 meters sprint category as well.
