Ooredoo Maldives appointed the reigning Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League champions, Maziya Sports and Recreation Club, as its brand ambassador on Monday night.
Ooredoo Maldives' CEO and Managing Director Najib Khan and Maziya's Chairman Mohamed Saajid signed the agreement at the 'Maruhaba 2020' event hosted by Ooredoo to kick off its 15th anniversary celebrations.
According to the telecommunications giant, Ooredoo will closely collaborate with Maziya and the club's Football Academy under this partnership, to promote football in Maldives and facilitate opportunities for aspiring young people to become professional players. Ooredoo will also be the main sponsor for Maziya Sports.
In addition to Maziya, Ooredoo also renewed its brand ambassadorship agreement with famous 'boduberu' (traditional Maldivian drum) group, Habeys.
Maziya Sports and Recreation Club was formed in 1995 and reached the first division in 2006. Throughout its illustrious career, Maziya has emerged victorious in all competitions in the first division. Some of the club's recent successes include winning two youth championships organised by Football Association of Maldives, the Veteran's Cup, as well as a youth championship in India.
