Maldives place second in Malaysia T20 Tri-Nation Series

The National Cricket Team of Maldives placed second in the Malaysian T20 Tri-Nation Series held by the Malaysian Cricket Association.

Maldives, Malaysia and Thailand participated in the tri-national competition.

Malaysia placed first, having won three out of the four matches, beating Thailand twice and Maldives once.

Out of the four matches that Maldives played, the country conceded the first match against Malaysia, while managing a victory over Thailand during the second match. Although the third match against Malaysia was halted due to rain, Maldives lost the second and last match against Thailand.

The best performance from the Maldivian team came from Sri Lankan athlete Nilantha Cooray, who managed 56 points out of 35 balls, and Adam Nasil Umar, who acquired 53 points with 38 balls.

A total of three Sri Lankan athletes play for Maldives. Foreign nationals may represent Maldives in the field of cricket after spending three years in the country.

Having won two competitions held in developing countries of Asia, Maldives is considered to be at a qualifying level for competitions in Asia.
