The Elections Commission (EC) has said on Tuesday that it has received 65 complaints in relation to the the designation of constituencies for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections.
The EC has previously announced that the number of constituencies in the upcoming elections will be raised to 93 from the currently existing 87. This increase was deemed necessary in light of the increase in population.
EC said that 44 of the 65 complaints received were concerning the newly introduced Addu Feydhoo North constituency.
The rest of the complaints covered two constituencies in Male', some in Addu and some in other atolls. EC will review and address the complaints before the 5th of November.
