Parliament has approved two names nominated for appointment to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)
During the first extraordinary sitting held last Thursday, the President's nomination list for ACC appointments prioritized Ahmed Nashid and Asiya Azeema.
However, in today's sitting, the President sent another letter to the Parliament, replacing Asiya's name with Abdulla Nashid.
The names were reviewed and approved at today's meeting of the Parliament's Independent Institutions Committee.
Voting on these two names took place in a session held last evening. The two members were unanimously approved for appointment to the ACC by all 67 members who were present at the session.
The President sent nominations for ACC members following the resignations of the Commission's Vice President, Abdul Salaam, and Commission member Thoha Mohamed. These two members resigned while the Parliament had begun to investigate cases against them.
