Demand from UK travellers have increased since Maldives was removed from UK's red list.

UK newspapers have reported that travel websites in the nation has received increased traffic after the changes they brought to their travel list on Friday. Maldives was moved from their red list to their amber list that day.

It was reported that most people want to travel to Maldives, in addition to Sri Lanka, and Mexico.

One of the major travel websites in UK, Sky Scanner, said that tourist demand has increased by 95 percent last week. It is believed this increase is seen after UK changes its COVID restrictions to allow for fully vaccinated people to travel without taking a PCR test. Another change is that travel back to UK from amber list countries now only requires quarantining at home instead of in hotels.

Maldivian High Commissioner in the UK has started participating Maldives in travel fairs in order to increase tourist arrivals in Maldives.
