Lawmaker of Thulushdhoo Constituency and deputy leader of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's faction of the divided ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim was summoned Tuesday to present himself to Maldives Police Service's headquarters for interrogation later that night.

An official from Maumoon's faction of PPM stated that Waheed is to be present at Maldives Police Headquarters 8:30 p.m.. Police have not given any details on which case was being investigated against the famous lawyer.

Meanwhile, the deputy leader appointed by Maumoon’s faction, Aminath Nadhira, had also been summoned to Police Headquarters yesterday. She was interrogated over the case of lost documents from PPM's filed by the incumbent president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's faction of PPM.

During the ongoing dispute between PPM’s leader Maumoon and his half-brother and PPM adviser, President Yameen, the judicial courts have given control of the party to Yameen. Following that, Yameen's faction removed all the assets and administrative equipment of the party from it's official office to Dharubaaruge convention center which is now the official activity hub of Yameen's faction.

Previously the secretary general of Maumoon's faction, Abdul Aleem, was also summoned to Police Headquarters and interrogated over the same case, while his apartment and PPM office at Themaage in Henveiru ward were raided.
