The government revealed that a Maldivian returning from China was quarantined in Farukolhufushi, Kaafu Atoll.

The individual made landfall on Thursday and was immediately taken into observation as part of the government's precautionary border control measures to curb the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) outbreak.

During a press conference held Thursday, Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed stressed that the Maldivian did not exhibit any symptoms of the virus and that authorities were only following procedure. Two additional Maldivians were isolated and placed under observation on the same day.

The three individuals will be quarantined for 14 days and be kept under observation.

Seven Maldivians residing in Wuhan were evacuated on Friday. All of them tested negative for the virus.

A total of nine Maldivians were residing in Wuhan as the virus outbreak gained momentum in January. However, only seven of them requested to be evacuated.

The Maldivian government airlifted the seven locals out of Wuhan with Indian aid. The locals were flown to New Delhi along with the Indian evacuation in Wuhan City and were subsequently quarantined at an isolation facility in an Indian military base.

Boardroom@CrisisBV's Chief Executive Officer Glenn C. Schoen, a Consultant for the administration's screening mechanisms, noted that his team of experts assisted in the setting up of "top-of-the-line" cameras and additional mobile deployable systems.

Over 75 frontline staff working on the multi-agency operation were trained under the consultant.

Originating in Wuhan City, Hubei, China, in late 2019 has now claimed more than 800 lives and infected over 37,000.
