Maldives defended the Indian Ocean’s Best Spa Destination title at the World Spa Awards 2019, held on October 21.

The award was received by the Maldivian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Dr Hussain Niyaz, at a special ceremony held at Armani Hotel Dubai, located at Burj Khalifa.

Alongside Maldives, island destinations Mauritius and Seychelles were nominated for the award.

Maldives has continuously maintained the title of Indian Ocean’s Best Spa Destination since the World Spa Awards were launched in 2015.

In a statement released to mark the win, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) stated that “Winning this prestigious award indicates visitors’ love and confidence towards the Maldives as a perfect wellness retreat and will indeed enhance the image of the country as a luxury spa destination.”

Additionally, two resorts located in Maldives secured awards. Lux* South Ari Atoll was awarded 'Indian Ocean's Best Wellness Retreat 2019', while Iridium Spa at The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort was crowned 'Indian Ocean's Best Resort Spa 2019'.

The World Spa Awards, a sister event of the World Travel Awards, aims to celebrate and reward excellence in the spa and wellness industry.
