Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) on Thursday forecast widespread rain with isolated heavy showers across Maldives over the next few days.
The predictions show that Northern and Central Atolls, in particular, will experience worse weather.
An official from MET affirmed that all of Maldives will experience heavy showers. Additionally, Northern and Central Atolls will experience strong winds and rough seas.
Strong winds are expected to last until Monday for Northern and Central Maldives
According to the official, the weather will improve for different regions on different days.
Surface winds will be southwest to westerly 7 – 17 miles per hour in southern atolls and 15 – 25 miles per hour in central and northern atolls. Winds may gust 45 - 50 miles per hour during squally showers.
MET further forecast and issued warnings over the possibility of swell wave surges in Central and Southern Atolls during high tide.
