President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that everyone should strive to prevent children from suffering abuse and ensure their protection, as well as work towards nurturing them as valuable children for the future of the country.
Speaking on the occasion of Children's Day, President Solih emphasized the importance of instilling a love for religious practices in the minds of children and ensuring their protection from harm.
He said that the national celebration of Children's Day is a special occasion aimed at promoting these goals and raising awareness on such issues.
President Solih added that it is the joint responsibility of the state and parents to ensure that every child is brought up as a valuable member of society. He urged families and communities to provide protection and support to children.
"Every single person should aim to ensure that no child is harmed or abused by them, and that every child receives protection from them," President Solih said.
He said all social issues in the country must be taken into consideration while raising children.
"What we have to pay most attention to is building a love for Islamic values and beliefs within the children's hearts. Teach them to be kind and respectful towards others, especially their elders. We should promote unity in social relationships, even in the face of different ideologies. Parents, guardians, and teachers have an important role to play in guiding children on these matters."
