In an interview with Times of India on his ongoing State visit to India, President Muizzu said that while Maldives continues to build relations with other countries, it is ensured that no actions that are taken would in any way compromise regional security and stability.
"India continues to be one of our largest trade and development partners. And I am confident this will be a very successful trip," he said.
President Muizzu asserted that Maldives will continue to build strong ties with India, noting the mutual respect and shared interests between the countries.
He said that while a Maldives First policy is being followed, close relations with India will continue to be prioritized.
"We are confident that our engagements with other nations will not undermine India's security interests," he said, when asked about growing ties with China.
He highlighted how recent cooperation between the India and Maldives demonstrates a positive trajectory in bilateral relations.
