Mohamed Saif Fathih has confirmed the ticket for the South Henveiru constituency for the upcoming parliamentary election with 15 votes.

In the party’s primary held on Saturday, Ahmed Aswan Nouman ran against Saif for the South Henveiru seat. Nouman received 12 votes in the election.

Saif, who won the ticket, had previously contested for the mayoral post of Male’ City Council held recently. However, it was Maldives Democratic Party’s (MDP) candidate Adam Azim who won the election.

The Democrats are contesting 41 seats in the parliamentary elections. With only one candidate in most of the constituencies, the majority of contesting candidates already confirmed their tickets without a primary, and as a result, the party held primaries in only four constituencies.

Current Madaveli MP Hussain Firushan confirmed the party's ticket from South Hulhumale' constituency with 74 votes in the party's primary today. Hasan Agil and Mohamed Faisal, who contested for the constituency, received 27 votes and 26 votes, respectively.

Among the parliamentarians who have confirmed tickets without having to contest in the primary are Ali Azim, who is currently MP for Central Henveiru constituency, Eva Abdulla from North Galolhu constituency, and Imthiyaz Fahmy from North Maafannu constituency.

The current MP for Central Maafannu, Ibrahim Rasheed, and Hassan Latheef from West Henveiru have their seats confirmed as well, while Hussain Amru, the former Managing Director of STO, has confirmed the party ticket for North Machangolhi constituency.
