A total of 139 members participated in the election, which was held at the Social Center from 10:00 hrs to 11:00 hrs today.
Media Council elected 15 members, including eight members from different media outlets and seven members from the general public.
Business Desk head of Mihaaru News, Fathimath Shana Mohamed, received the highest number of votes.
Members selected from different media outlets:
1. Fathimath Shana (Mihaaru online): 118 votes
2. Najah Masood (Vaguthu Online): 117 votes
3. Hassan Shakir (Aafathis Online): 93 votes
4. Hafsee Abdulla (Hafsee.com) 75 votes
5. Hussain Hassan Hathaavees Online) 74 votes
6. Hussain Saqeef (Thiladhun Online) 74 votes
7. Nahudha faiz (Dhiyares Online): 71 votes
Members elected from the general public:
1. fathimath Fahmy: 80 votes
2. Ibrahim Fauzee: 76 votes
3. Ibrahim Mohamed: 49 votes
The term of the current members of the council will expire on 14 December.
The members are elected for a tenure of two years.
