Abdulla Siyaz, who has served as part of former President Abdulla Yameen's legal team for many years, has been appointed as a State Minister at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed confirmed that this appointment has been made.
Siyaz has previously served as a Coordinator, and later as a Deputy Minister, at the Economic Ministry during former President Yameen's administration.
Siyaz was the first lead counsel for Yameen in the MMPRC corruption cases that were raised against him.
As per the President's Office website, currently the Economic Ministry has four State Ministers. Mihaaru reports that there has been additional appointments recently, however this is not reflected on the website as of yet.
