Maldives Journalists Association has on Thursday held an event titled “Noosveringe Salla” [translated as Journalists’ Discussion] to mark Press Freedom Day, which falls on May 3rd annually.

The event included a panel discussion, as well as the launching of two reports.
The first was the official launch of "Media Mirror", the MJA's Public Trust in Media Report. The findings of the report were presented by Dr Fazeela Ibrahim, Dean of Institute for Research and Innovation at Villa College, who led the research team.
This report is the first of its kind in Maldives, and was conducted by MJA in collaboration with the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), with funding from the European Commission.
The second report launched was the 2023/24 IFJ South Asia Press Freedom Report's Maldives chapter.
The report launches were followed by a panel discussion, on the topic “Defending Journalism in a Post-Truth Era”. Panelists included Right to Information Activist Ahmed Afrah, Editor of Dhauru News 'Hiriga' Ahmed Zahir, and Editor of The Edition Mariyath Mohamed.
This is the fourth session of the 'Noosveringe Salla' that has been held by the MJA so far.
