All operations at Bandaranaike International Airport in Sri Lanka was temporarily halted on Thursday after a vehicle believed to be connected to Sunday's mass bombing was detected in the airport's vicinity.
According to Lanka's outlet News First, services were stopped until security forces finished conducting search operations along the road leading to the airport. The road has since been re-opened to the public.
Although incoming flights will land at Bandaranaike airport as planned, outgoing flights will be considerably delayed.
An explosion was also reported earlier in the morning at a vacant land plot located in the Sri Lankan town of Pugoda which is 40 kilometres east of the capital Colombo. No casualties or injuries occurred as a result of the blast.
Over 350 were confirmed dead as a result of the series of bomb blasts that tore through churches and luxury hotels on April 21.
The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attacks on April 23 and the authorities have made 40 arrests so far in connection to the attacks.
Maldivian Embassy in Sri Lanka had advised all Maldivians in Lanka to carry their passport on person when going out.
