The Maldives government confirmed the decisive victory of opposition coalition candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) over incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
This marks the first time the government acknowledged the opposition candidate’s electoral triumph.
