The Labour Relations Authority (LRA) has been reassigned to the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology.
The President's Office announced yesterday that the transfer followed the Cabinet's recommendation, citing discussions on resolving issues regarding undocumented expatriate workers.
During this administration, the authority was under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education, Labor, and Skills Development.
Previously, it was managed by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
The Labour Relations Authority, established under the Employment Act, will now operate under the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, alongside Maldives Immigration, the Department of National Registration, the National Center for Information Technology, the National Drug Agency, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and National Cyber Security.
