Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC), on Saturday, requested any persons who travelled out of Dhevvadhoo in Gaafu Alif Atoll after November 30, 2020, to undergo a COVID-19 test as soon as possible, from the closest health facility or flu clinic available.

The centre further urged them to self-quarantine until they received negative results for the test, and avoid leaving the house for any reason, including attending work and school.

HEOC also requested travellers who had left Dhevvadhoo after December 25, 2020, to undergo testing as well, in addition to completing a 14-day quarantine, starting from the day they had travelled from the island.

Dhevvadhoo is currently under monitoring after a number of individuals who travelled from Male’ to the island tested positive for the virus.

The infected patients had mingled with the community after they had finished their quarantine period, due to misinformation about test results, exposing the island to the virus.

HPA had assured that contact tracing is underway to ensure that there is no community spread on the island.

Fonadhoo and Gan in Laamu Atoll were placed under monitoring on Saturday, after four individuals who travelled to Fonadhoo from Dhevvadhoo tested positive for COVID-19.

At present, Maldives records a total of 14,065 virus cases of which 701 are active cases, in addition to 13,308 recoveries and 49 deaths.
