Pakistan has donated laptops to 15 schools of the Maldives under the “Jinah Laptop Scheme”.

In a ceremony held this Sunday, the laptops were donated by the Ambassador of Pakistan appointed to the Maldives, Syed Khawar Ali Shah and were received by the Minister of Education Dr Aishath Shiham.

These laptops will be distributed to various schools of the country in the upcoming years. This year’s laptops are awarded to 14 government schools in capital Male and Addu High School.

According to Education Minister Shiham, the laptops will be awarded to the best all-round students of the schools. She added that next year, the  laptops will be awarded to Atoll Education Centres.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Ambassador of Pakistan remarked that the education sector of the Maldives is remarkable within the South Asian region and, hence, efforts will be laid in finding medical scholarships for Maldivian students.

The “Jinah Laptop Scheme” is the namesake of the first Governor General  of Pakistan, Mohamed Jinah.
