Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed Tuesday that 59 percent of the construction and development of roads in Fonadhoo, Laamu Atolll, has been completed.
MTCC is currently removing surfaces from the existing roads, along with ongoing subgrade works, road compaction and levelling.
The MVR 25.5 million project comprises laying asphalt along 12 roads, amounting to a total length of 3.5 kilometres and 27,848 square metres.
MTCC will also develop a stormwater management system to minimise flood damage, as well as construct speed breakers and road markings under this project.
Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted MTCC with the development of Fonadhoo's roads on June 26, 2019.
In addition to road development, MTCC carries out several infrastructural projects across the country, including harbour development, coastal protection, and land reclamation.
