Fisheries Minister, Ahmed Shiyam has stated that 56 boat crew have completed their Rescue Divers Course under the program launched by the government to ensure at least one diver is stationed at every fishing vessel in order to reduce unfortunate accidents.
Within the efforts made by the government to station at least one diver certified to a rescue diver level on every active fishing boat, fifty-six crew members has completed the course at present.
Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, Ahmed Shiyam stated on social platform X yesterday that the crew are being trained as rescue divers within the efforts made by the ministry to implement the fishing policy determined by the president. He shared that fifty-six individuals have completed the Rescue Diver Course from fifty six boats in the south.

During the meeting held last year to celebrate the 42nd National Fishermen’s Day, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu had asserted the importance of stationing a fully trained diver at every fishing vessel in order to reduce frequent tragic events that occur whilst fishermen are underwater.
Therefore, the president had determined to launch a Rescue Divers Program in order to deploy at least one diver possessing a rescue diver level certification on each fishing vessel.
