"Champa" Mohamed Moosa, popularly known as Uchu, one of Maldives most successful tourism entrepreneurs, celebrated his birthday with grandeur at his residence at Kuredu Island Resort last night.

Indian artist and singer, 14-year-old Mohammad Faiz and his team arrived in Maldives on December 25, on the invitation of Moosa and performed some of his favorite classics.

Moosa loves Hindi and local Dhivehi songs, sometimes even composing his own poems, which reflects in his music filled events.

Faiz, who was flown in to celebrate Moosa's birthday this year, is the winner of the second season of Sony TV's reality show "Superstar Singer"

Besides Faiz, a Bangladeshi music band and dancers were also invited to the birthday event.

Moosa, who runs several resorts under the "Champa Brothers" umbrella was gifted with a cake parade by various corporations in celebration of his birthday. The parade was displayed by employees adorned in local traditional wear.

Moosa's birthday is celebrated colorfully every time, and this year’s event featured presentations of his services. The presentation showcased the business achievements of Moosa, who has received the National Award and several accolades for his service in the tourism sector.

The presentation also mentioned his various contributions to the betterment of the society. Highlights were made on the familial bond between "Champa" Hussain Afeef, one of the pioneers of the tourism sector and Moosa's brother and the assistance they provide each other in running their businesses.

Moosa, who entered business at a very young age 50 years ago celebrated his birthday with his brother Afeef and other members of their family.

Last night's celebrations also saw the presentation of a book on Moosa's business achievements written by Professor Mohammed Rafi Yacoob of Malaysia's Kelantan University, who had also attended the birthday celebration.

Defense Minister Maryia Ahmed Didi, Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal, Managing Director of STO Hussain Amr and Ambassador of China to the Maldives H.E. Wang Lixin had also attended the ceremony.
