A "pressure pad" system used in Haa Dhaal atoll Kulhudhuhfushi Airport exploded today, causing injury to four firefighters.
An official from Regional Airports stated that among the injured individuals, three are in serious condition, with one is in a far more critical state.
"We are currently making arrangements to take all three to Malé," the official said.
Three males and one female were among the injured. They are currently being treated for injuries at the Kulhudhuhfushi Regional Hospital.
Police stated that the explosion occurred while a cylinder used in the airport's fire training was being refilled. The police said that all the injured individuals are airport staff and they had received reports of the incident at 11:45 a.m.
