Heavy rain and strong wind have been reported from Haa Alifu atoll Baarah, Haa Alifu atoll Dhidhdhoo, Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuffushi, Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru and Kurendhoo, Gaafu Alifu atoll Dhevvadhoo, Seenu atoll Maradhoo, Feydhoo, and Hithadhoo.
Nine islands in the Maldives have experienced flooding due to severe rainfall.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is closely monitoring the damage caused by the ongoing torrential rains. As of 18:00 hrs today, flooding and strong winds have been reported on nine islands, according to the authority.
"No situation has arisen where a family needs to be relocated," NDMA stated.
The affected islands include Haa Alifu atoll Baarah, Haa Alifu atoll Dhidhdhoo, Haa Dhaalu atoll Kulhudhuffushi, Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru and Kurendhoo, Gaafu Alifu atoll Dhevvadhoo, Seenu atoll Maradhoo, Seenu atoll Feydhoo, and Seenu atoll Hithadhoo.
The weather agency of the country, MET has issued a Yellow Alert from Haa Alifu atoll to Thaa atoll, effective until 01:00 hrs tonight. Islands in these atolls are expected to experience torrential rain and thunderstorms, with strong winds averaging 25-30 miles per hour and very rough seas.
MET has forecasted particularly bad weather across the island nation this week.

The average monthly rainfall during the rainy monsoon is 100-200 mm.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), along with police and other relevant agencies, has advised people to take necessary precautions due to the severe weather conditions.
