Health Minister has stated that CT Scans, Dialysis and MRI services will be made available at all regional hospitals under efforts to reduce demand for the main government hospital.
A decision has been made to establish dialysis services in all hospitals located in every atoll of the country.
Responding to a question posed by the Parliamentarian of the Hoarafushi Constituency, Ahmed Saleem, Minister of Health, Dr Abdulla Khaleel stated today that numerous efforts are being made to lower the demand incurred by the primary government hospital.
The Minister revealed that improving the quality of services offered by atoll and regional hospitals are included within these efforts alongside the launch of new services in these healthcare institutions.
Khaleel stated that the facilities of CT Scanning, Dialysis treatments and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) that has remained unavailable at regional hospital will be expanded to all atolls in the country.
"We are estimating that dialysis servicis will be begun in all atoll hospitals within the year. Alongside this, efforts are being proceeded under a special plan to improve the services of Addu Equatorial Hospital, the regional hospital in [Gaafu Dhaalu atoll] Thinadhoo as well as [Haa Dhaalu atoll] Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital and Raa atoll Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital," said Khaleel.
He had also highlighted that the number of people having to travel from local islands to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) located in the capital city of Male' for healthcare treatments will be reduced with this development.
Dialysis treatments are available in Hulhumale Hospital, IGMH, as well as Vilimale' Hospital within the Male' region. These treatments are also available from multiple regional hospitals as well as the Equatorial Hospital located in Addu City and Fuvahmulah City as well. Moreover, Dialysis treatment were further commenced in Baa atoll Eydhafushi Atoll Hospital and Lhaviyani atoll Naifaru Atoll Hospital over a year ago.
