Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has put up industrial land plots from Thilafushi up for sale exclusively for Maldivian buyers and has also opened up the possibility of owning the plots already leased.

In an announcement made by the company last night, it was detailed that the land plots to be sold are located in zone A, area B of the second phase of Thilafushi. A total of 108 unsold plots will be available for purchase under three categories, the announcement read:

- Type 1: 64 plots sized 2500 – 4999 sqft

- Type 2: 42 plots sized 5000 – 9999 sqft

- Type 3: 2 plots sized 10,000 – 14,000 sqft

These lands will be sold in two stages. The first stage involves submission of Expression of Interest (EoI)s, which would move to a bidding process if more than one party expresses interest for the same plot. The lowest bit amount has been set as MVR 1700.

Interested parties are encourages to submit application forms via HDC’s bid portal (https://bids.hdc.mv) or via email ([email protected]).

In addition to the sale of plots, the existing leased lands from Phase 1 of Thilafushi will also be available for purchase, as per the announcement. However, this opportunity is available only for those who are leasing plots larger than 5000 sqft.

Those who wish to convert their leased lands into owned lands are requested to email [email protected] to proceed with the sale.

HDC forecasts that businesses will find ease in clearance, storage and supply of goods from the capital to local islands, once the international port is relocated to the industrial island of Thilafushi. The Thila-Malé bridge which is currently under construction will also cut down time taken to supply goods between Malé the Thilafushi in the future, the company said.

The statement concluded by assuring the public that HDC will always work to make available resources useable and to ensure that the public gets to benefit from such resources as soon as possible.
