Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, on Wednesday, held a virtual meeting with several non-resident ambassadors from Arab nations accredited to Maldives.
The meeting was attended by the ambassadors of Jordan, Kuwait, Palestine and Yemen, and the deputy head of mission of Oman.
Following discussions regarding the COVID-19 situation in each country, Minister Shahid expressed gratitude for the foreign assistance extended to support Maldives' COVID-19 response.
Furthermore, the minister also deliberated opportunities to enhance bilateral and multilateral relationships between the countries.
The meeting was held on the initiative of the foreign ministry to increase interaction and cultivate a closer relationship with the representatives accredited to the Maldives.
On October 12, the foreign minister also virtually met high commissioners and ambassadors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in order to create closer ties between the foreign ministry and the ASEAN envoys assigned to Maldives.
