Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on September 9 awarded Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) with a MVR 37.8 million contract for the second phase of road development on Dhuvaafaru, Raa Atoll.
According to MTCC, the contract was signed by the ministry's Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq and MTCC's Managing Director Ahmed Azim.
As per the agreement, MTCC will develop 4,960 meters of road for pedestrian walk and 17,790 meters of road for vehicle use, and is scheduled for completion with 300 days.
Moreover, MTCC will also undertake the installation of underground utilities and cables.
In addition to road development projects, MTCC carries out several infrastructural projects across the country, including harbour development and large-scale land reclamation efforts.
The government currently owns 64.2 percent of MTCC shares while the remaining 31.15 percent of the shares are held by the general public.
