Health Protection Agency (HPA) announces they will start administering AstraZeneca vaccine shots with no prior appointments from Monday onwards.

The agency said on Sunday evening that vaccination centers in the Greater Male’ Area will start administering vaccine shots to people that walk in. Previously, the AstraZeneca shots were only given to people that had made appointments.

Priority will still be given to people that had made appointment beforehand.

AstraZeneca vaccines are available in Social Center, Art Gallery, Islamic Center, and the Vilimale’ Hospital as well.

The shipment of AstraZeneca vaccines in Maldives will expire in November.

As a certain period of time has to be observed in between shots, the government aims to get as many unvaccinated people to get their first shot as soon as possible.
