Tourist arrivals increased by 14 percent in July

As per statistics shared by the Ministry of Tourism, 160,000 tourists arrived in the Maldives last month. The previous year's July observed 140,000 tourist arrivals, marking an increase of 20,000 this year.

The number of tourist arrivals in Maldives in July has increased by 14 percent.

As per statistics shared by the Ministry of Tourism, 160,000 tourists arrived in the Maldives last month. The previous year's July observed 140,000 tourist arrivals, marking an increase of 20,000 this year.

July has seen an increase after the numbers dipping significantly in the previous two months.

In the first seven months of this year, 1.1 million tourists have arrived in the Maldives. In 2023, the first seven months saw 1 million arrivals, with this year's arrivals seeing a 9.6 percent increase.

The government aims to reach a goal of 2 million tourist arrivals by the end of the year. In order to achieve this, Maldives will have to welcome 180,000 tourists per month for the rest of the year.

The highest number of tourist arrivals currently is from China, with 157,000 visitors. Russia is second on the list, with 125,000 tourist. Third rank is taken by the UK, from which 104,000 tourists have visited the Maldives this year.
