Male' City Council is seeking additional Maldivians for the maintenance and upkeep of mosques in the Male' area.

In an announcement tonight, Male' City Council said that they are seeking 13 local males to clean and maintain mosques in Male' on a one-year contract.

The council has offered a salary of MVR 5,000, in addition to a service allowance of MVR 1,500, an overtime allowance of MVR 3,500, and an attendance allowance of MVR 75 per day for the position.

Responsibilities:

- Maintenance and upkeep of mosques

- Maintenance and upkeep of cemeteries under Male' City Council

- Administrative tasks of the council

According to the council, interested individuals must submit the necessary documents by June 6 at 14:00 hrs to Henveiru Hulhugali, 3rd floor.

Previously, the maintenance of mosques in Male' City was contracted to companies. However, the council decided to shift the maintenance of mosques under its authority. Maintenance and upkeep of these mosques were previously carried out by expatriate workers.

Following the initial announcement seeking 114 locals for the job, not many people had responded, and had only 14 applications submitted. However, when a second announcement was made, over 200 applications were received.

Last Monday, The council said that mosques maintained by the council, including 10 mosques in Hulhumale', 22 mosques in Male', and two mosques in Villimale', will be cleaned and maintained exclusively by Maldivians instead of expatriate workers.
